Family Counseling allows each member of the family unit to learn how to communicate more effectively with one another. Whether it is to help the family as a whole or an individual of the family, this type of therapy is very beneficial to everyone. Your therapist will help you and your family members learn tools on how to communicate, how to be assertive with one another and to how to effectively discuss issues from the past or that are current to allow each of you to heal. In addition to learning how to resolve conflict, you will each learn how to tolerate distress and regulate your emotions when necessary.
Family Counseling is often recommended in conjunction with individual counseling when working with adolescents and teens.
